Rama VIII Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge in Bangkok, Thailand

The Rama VIII Bridge stretches 475 meters across the Chao Phraya River with a single asymmetrical pylon and golden support cables.

The bridge construction began in 1996 following King Bhumibol Adulyadej's initiative to reduce traffic congestion on the Pinklao Bridge route.

The structure honors King Ananda Mahidol, Rama VIII, and appears on the reverse side of the Thai 20-baht banknote.

The bridge connects the Phra Nakhon and Bang Phlat districts with dedicated lanes for vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians crossing the river.

The bridge design aligns with the earth's orbit, allowing the sun to rise directly above the center line during specific times.
