Banys de l'Almirall, Medieval public bath in Ciutat Vella, Spain.
The Banys de l'Almirall features three vaulted chambers with thick walls designed to maintain temperature and control humidity throughout the building.
Built in 1320 by knight Pere de Vila-rasa, this public bath operated continuously until 1959, serving the local community for over six centuries.
The baths followed the traditional hammam layout with separate cold, warm, and hot rooms, reflecting the Islamic influence on Valencia's medieval architecture.
The facility underwent restoration in 2001 and currently offers free admission, with access to multiple bus lines including 4, 5B, 6, and 8.
The heating system incorporates an innovative hypocaust mechanism in the hot room, with an octagonal dome and star-shaped skylights illuminating the central chamber.
