Hatzor HaGlilit, Local council in Northern District, Israel
Hatzor HaGlilit extends across 5.17 square kilometers of land in the Korazim Plateau, maintaining an elevation of 340 meters above sea level.
The town originated as transit camps labeled Hatzor A and B in the early 1950s, receiving Jewish immigrants from North Africa before gaining local council status.
The tomb of Honi the Circle-Maker, located within the town, holds religious significance and draws members of the Gerrer Hassidic community.
The population density reaches 1,900 residents per square kilometer, with the town providing administrative services to approximately 10,047 inhabitants as of 2022.
The town takes its name from Tel Hazor, an ancient Canaanite city that belonged to the tribe of Naphtali before its destruction by Tiglath-Pileser III.
