Lower Franconian Museum, Regional history museum in Marienberg Fortress, Würzburg, Germany
The Lower Franconian Museum displays paintings, sculptures, and regional artifacts across 40 exhibition rooms within the medieval fortress complex.
The museum, which opened in 1913, occupies a section of Marienberg Fortress, a structure that served as residence for Würzburg prince-bishops since 1253.
The museum holds the largest collection of Tilman Riemenschneider works, featuring carved altarpieces from Münnerstadt, Rothenburg, and Creglingen.
Visitors can explore the museum from Tuesday through Sunday between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, with different seasonal schedules throughout the year.
The museum contains historical wine vessels and traditional costumes in its folklore section, representing the regional heritage of Lower Franconia.
