Central Government Building No. 1, Government complex in Kasumigaseki, Japan

Central Government Building No. 1 is a large administrative complex in Tokyo's governmental district of Kasumigaseki, housing numerous ministry offices and government departments. The structure consists of multiple wings and sections connected by underground passages and walkways for internal circulation.

The building was completed in 1954 as the first fireproof government structure in post-war Japan. Its construction marked the beginning of modernization for Japanese administrative facilities and showed renewed confidence in permanent infrastructure.

The building houses various ministries that shape daily policy affecting millions of Japanese citizens. You can see here the heart of national administration where important decisions about the country's direction are made.

The building sits near Kasumigaseki Station and is easy to reach by public transportation. The underground passages connect several neighboring government facilities, allowing you to explore the area while staying dry during bad weather.

The structure uses concrete and steel instead of traditional materials common in Japan, showing a new building approach. This choice reflected the country's opening to modern Western construction techniques after the war.
