Nyoirinji

The Nyoirinji temple stands on the slopes of Mount Yoshino, featuring traditional Japanese architecture with a pagoda and multiple worship halls.

Emperor Daigo commissioned the construction of Nyoirinji temple between 901 and 923, establishing it as a center of Kōyasan Shingon Buddhism.

The temple houses a collection of historical artifacts, including paintings depicting Kusunoki Masatsura's final prayers before his battle against Northern Court forces.

Visitors can access the temple through a 35-minute walk from Kintetsu Yoshino Station, with admission fees of 500 yen for adults.

The temple maintains Emperor Go-Daigo's mausoleum and his wife's tomb, marking its connection to the period of competing Imperial Courts.
