Pelham's Pillar, Grade II listed observation tower in Cabourne, England
The limestone tower rises 39 meters high in Cabourne High Wood, featuring a square dome with fish-scale tiles and an urn finial at its peak.
Edward James Willson designed the pillar between 1840 and 1849 to commemorate Charles Anderson-Pelham, the first Earl of Yarborough, who planted twelve million trees.
The monument includes two stone lions at its entrance, with sleeping and waking figures positioned on high pediments near the four-panelled door.
Visitors can locate the tower using grid reference TA 12896 03684 and access the structure to view the south bank of the Humber from its summit.
From the top of this observation point, the first Earl of Yarborough could see his entire estate, which encompassed all visible land in every direction.
