Alter Marstall, Baroque royal stables in Mitte, Germany.
The Alter Marstall exhibits a sandstone facade with ionic columns and features two interior courtyards, one designated for horse riding activities.
Built in 1670 by Johann Gregor Memhardt, the structure contained stables for 300 horses, royal carriages, and sleighs for the Berlin court.
The building now houses the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music, which continues Berlin's tradition of musical education in historical settings.
Located at Breite Straße 32-37, the structure maintains its original architectural elements despite modifications during various restoration projects.
This structure represents Berlin's only remaining early Baroque utility building, incorporating the adjacent Ribbeck House, the city's last Renaissance construction.
