Sacred Heart Church stands at 40 South Irvine Avenue with a bell tower that was constructed in 1867 as part of the church structure.
The church began its religious service in 1864 when Reverend John J. O'Keeffe became the first resident pastor on land donated by J.M. Irvine.
The parish maintained a parochial school in the basement until 1889, when they constructed a separate building for educational purposes.
The church building closed its doors in February 2017 and merged with Saint Joseph's Church due to declining attendance in the area.
During the economic challenges of 1932, the church underwent substantial renovations to enhance its structural integrity and facilities.
