The medieval fortress features defensive towers, bastions, a drawbridge across a moat, and architectural elements from various historical periods spanning five centuries.
Built in the 15th century by John Hunyadi, the castle underwent significant modifications during his reign to serve both as a strategic stronghold and feudal residence.
The Knights Hall, Diet Hall, and numerous rooms display medieval artifacts, weaponry, and architectural elements that reflect the Romanian and Hungarian heritage.
The castle museum welcomes visitors Monday afternoons and Tuesday through Sunday from morning until evening, offering guided tours in multiple languages.
A 30-meter deep well within the castle courtyard was reportedly dug by Turkish prisoners who were promised freedom upon reaching the water source.
