Perge Ancient City

Settlement at Perge started during the Bronze Age, later becoming a Greek colony before reaching its peak as a Roman provincial capital in the 2nd century.

The ruins demonstrate the evolution of architectural styles from Hellenistic to Roman periods, with structures showing both Greek and Roman construction techniques.

The site requires a minimum of three hours to explore, with the best visiting times being early morning or late afternoon to avoid intense Mediterranean heat.

The stadium, measuring 234 meters in length, ranks among the largest and most intact ancient sports venues discovered in the Mediterranean region.
