Star Ferry, Ferry service across Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong
The Star Ferry connects Hong Kong Island to Kowloon Peninsula with a fleet of twelve distinctive green and white double-deck vessels crossing Victoria Harbour.
Founded in 1888 by merchant Dorabjee Naorojee Mithaiwala as the Kowloon Ferry Company, the service changed its name to Star Ferry Company in 1898.
The ferry system represents a fundamental connection between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, carrying over 70,000 passengers daily across Victoria Harbour.
Two main routes operate from Tsim Sha Tsui: one to Central and another to Wan Chai, with fares starting at 2.20 HKD for lower deck seats.
The Electric Star, built in 1933, marked a significant advancement as the first diesel-electric passenger ferry of its type in maritime transportation.
