The Biblioteca Popular Constancio C. Vigil extends across multiple floors, housing a collection of 80,000 books and periodicals in its reading rooms.
The library, established in 1944, experienced a military intervention in 1977 that led to the arrest of staff members and destruction of numerous materials.
The institution developed educational programs, including primary and secondary schools, music classes, and theater activities for the local community throughout the 1960s.
The library opens Monday through Friday from 15:00 to 20:00, with additional morning hours on Tuesday and Thursday, and Saturday service from 10:00 to 13:00.
In 1968, the library incorporated a computing center to manage ticket sales, generating substantial funds for its educational and cultural initiatives.
