Palais de l'Art déco

The Palais de l'Art déco houses collections of fashion, furniture and decorative objects from the 1920s within a former department store building that exemplifies early 20th-century modernist architecture with geometric patterns and streamlined forms.

Built between 1922 and 1927 by Parisian architect Sylvère Laville on the ruins of the Nouvelles Galeries destroyed during World War I, this building represents one of the first art deco constructions in the region.

The museum organizes temporary and permanent exhibitions showcasing the influence of art deco on fashion, graphic design, furniture and interior decoration, along with educational workshops and guided tours for visitors of all ages.

Open Tuesday through Sunday from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM with free admission by reservation, the museum is located at 14 rue de la Sellerie and offers guided tours plus accessibility features for visitors with mobility impairments.

Hidden murals were discovered beneath layers of paint during renovation work in the 1980s, revealing previously unknown artistic details that shed light on the building's original decorative scheme and cultural heritage.
