Iglesia de San Ignacio, Catholic church in Santiago, Chile
The Iglesia de San Ignacio features two 47-meter towers made of reinforced concrete, with the eastern tower containing a four-faced clock from Bilbao.
Construction began on December 15, 1867, after the previous church burned down, with Italian architect Eusebio Chelli leading the initial phase until 1872.
The interior houses a Baroque-Revival main altar and a Cavaillé-Coll pipe organ containing over 2,200 pipes and 33 registers, among Chile's largest instruments.
The church stands at Alonso Ovalle 1490 in Santiago, near the intersection with San Ignacio street, and remains open for religious services and visits.
The western tower contains three manual bells, two of which were created using materials from an ancient bell that survived the 1863 fire.
