Soppeng

Soppeng Regency spans across 1,359 square kilometers of land with eight districts, including Marioriwawo, Marioriawa, and Donri Donri, at 147 meters elevation.

The region developed from the former Bugis Kingdom of Soppeng, with its capital Watansoppeng positioned in the foothills near the Walanae Valley.

Located 180 kilometers from Makassar, Soppeng Regency operates in the UTC+8 time zone and maintains essential services through its eight administrative districts.

Watansoppeng hosts a population of 12,500 black flying foxes that inhabit trees throughout the urban area, creating a natural spectacle in the city.
