Kaimana

Kaimana Regency encompasses 18,500 square kilometers of land, including over 500 offshore islands across five coastal districts along the Arafuru Sea.

The establishment of Kaimana as an administrative regency occurred on December 11, 2002, marking a significant step in West Papua's territorial organization.

The region maintains four primary indigenous tribes - Irarutu, Mairasi, Kambrau, and Kowiai - each contributing to the area's linguistic and social diversity.

Transportation within the regency relies primarily on waterways, with piers in most sub-districts and a seaport that accommodates vessels up to 5,000 dead weight tons.

Ancient rock art sites at Mai Mai cliff, Omborecena, Memnemba, and Tumberawasi preserve prehistoric drawings that document the region's early human presence.
