Berrima Correctional Centre is a colonial-era prison complex in the Wingecarribee region featuring sandstone walls and mid-nineteenth-century architecture. The site comprises several interconnected buildings that form a coherent institutional layout from that period.

The facility opened as Berrima Gaol in the eighteen-thirties and served as a prison for many decades thereafter. During World War I, it was repurposed as an internment camp for prisoners of war.

The facility reflects nineteenth-century ideas about punishment and control through its layout and design choices. Visitors can see how the physical structure reinforces these historical approaches to incarceration.
