British Seamen's Hotel, Heritage bar in The Rocks, Sydney, Australia.

The British Seamen's Hotel occupies a three-story building at 39-43 Argyle Street, featuring Federation Free Classical architecture with decorative rendered horizontal bands and arched windows.

Built in 1886 by John Gill, the structure initially served as the Kings Head Inn before becoming the British Seamen's Hotel, accommodating maritime workers throughout Sydney's port history.

The building represents the maritime traditions of The Rocks district, where sailors gathered for refreshments and lodging between their ocean voyages since the 19th century.

Located near Sydney Harbor, the establishment maintains its original function as a bar while preserving the architectural elements protected by the State Heritage Register.

The site housed architect Francis Greenway in the 1830s and underwent transformation from an inn to a boarding house before becoming offices for Thomas Playfair Company.
