Libertador, Administrative district in Caracas, Venezuela
The Libertador Municipality extends over 438 square kilometers and contains twenty-two parishes, including La Candelaria, Baruta, and Caricuao within the Capital District.
Established in 1901 as Libertador Department including Vargas territory, the municipality transformed through constitutional changes in 1999 to become part of the Capital District.
The municipality houses numerous government buildings, including the Miraflores Presidential Palace, Federal Legislative Palace, and the Central Bank of Venezuela headquarters.
With a population of 2.1 million inhabitants, Libertador functions as the primary commercial center of Venezuela, hosting major financial institutions and public sector offices.
The territory encompasses two national parks: El Ávila in the north and Macarao in the southwest, plus the Botanical Garden of the Central University of Venezuela.
