Château de Beauregard, Medieval fortress ruins in Publy, France

The remains of the castle include a square keep with a corbelled turret, positioned at an altitude of 660 meters in the Jura region.

Built for the Coligny lords in the 10th century, the castle stood at the intersection of two major routes before Louis XIV ordered its demolition in 1668.

The northeast wall of the keep contains three decorative windows and a preserved arrow slit, demonstrating medieval military architecture techniques.

Visitors can reach the castle from Lons-Le-Saunier by following the D52 toward Montaigu, then D52A to Nogna, with final access requiring a walk uphill.

The keep offers views of surrounding villages including Marnézia, Dompierre-sur-Mont, Nogna, and Saint Maur, explaining its name which means beautiful view.
