Sattelberg, Mountain summit in Stubaier Alps, Austria and Italy
The Sattelberg peak rises to 2,115 meters above sea level, marking the natural border between North Tyrol in Austria and South Tyrol in Italy.
The mountain area contains remnants of military positions and old roads that date back to strategic border control operations between Austria and Italy.
The Sattelbergalm mountain hut at 1,637 meters serves traditional Alpine meals while providing a meeting point for hikers from both Austrian and Italian territories.
Hikers can start their journey at the Brenner Pass shopping center, following path number 1 through hairpin bends for a 10-kilometer round trip.
The Sattelmöser wet meadows at the Austrian-Italian border create a natural biotope where the Isarco River begins its course as a small mountain stream.
