Neftchala District, Administrative district in southeastern Azerbaijan.
The district extends over 1,451 square kilometers of lowland terrain, reaching 22 meters below sea level near the Caspian Sea coast.
Neftchala District emerged as an administrative entity on February 11, 1940, during the period of the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic.
The district contains 48 villages, three settlements, and one central city, reflecting the traditional agricultural and fishing communities of the region.
The Khazar automobile factory operates within the Neftchala Industrial Park, providing employment opportunities for the district's 88,900 residents.
The district name combines Persian 'naft' for oil and Azerbaijani 'çala' for trench, indicating the presence of natural petroleum deposits.
