Gobustan District

The district spans 1,370 square kilometers across diverse terrain, from the Caspian Sea shores to Mount Gijaki in the eastern Greater Caucasus range.

The district was established on October 8, 1943, and underwent administrative reorganization in 1990 after being part of the Shamakhi District for several decades.

The region contains 23 cultural centers and 30 educational institutions that serve the population of 47,400 residents through various community programs.

Six kindergartens and three medical facilities provide essential services to residents, while agricultural production focuses on grain, yielding one ton per person annually.

The district contains numerous limestone formations and active mud volcanoes, representing nearly half of all such geological features found worldwide.
