Ci'en Temple, Buddhist temple in Shenhe District, China
The Ci'en Temple complex encompasses 2,995 square meters with 135 buildings, including the Shanmen gate, Four Heavenly Kings Hall, and Mahavira Hall.
Founded in 1628 during the Ming dynasty, the temple underwent substantial expansion in 1644 and required an 18-year restoration project starting in 1912.
The Mahavira Hall contains statues of Sakyamuni, Amitabha, and Bhaisajyaguru, representing key figures in Buddhist religious practices and teachings.
The temple functions as the headquarters of the Shenyang Buddhist Association and maintains protected cultural status at municipal and provincial levels.
In 1983, the State Council of China designated Ci'en Temple as a National Key Buddhist Temple in Han Chinese Area.
