Kesselberg, Mountain summit in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany
Kesselberg rises to 661.8 meters above sea level, making it the second highest elevation in the Palatine Forest region after Kalmit mountain.
The mountain paths include a trail established in 1953 by historian Friedrich Sprater, who conducted research on the geological formations in the area.
The summit area contains multiple depressions in Bunter sandstone that some researchers connect to ancient Celtic ceremonial practices in the region.
Hikers can access the mountain through trail intersections at Benderplatz and Kohlplatz, with parking available at the Lolosruhe car park.
The geological formations known as Gletschermulden present rounded depressions at the summit, forming distinct patterns in the sandstone landscape.
