Heidentor, Archaeological site in Egesheim, Germany

The Heidentor features a natural stone arch measuring 6 meters in height and 4 meters in width, located at an elevation of 925 meters above sea level.

Archaeological excavations in the 1990s revealed numerous artifacts from the Late Hallstatt and Early La Tène periods, including brooches, rings, and arrowheads at the site.

The location served as a Celtic ritual site where women left offerings, with evidence of ceremonial practices dating back to the 6th century BC.

The site requires physical effort to access as visitors must traverse a steep path to reach the archaeological remains and natural stone formation.

A Celtic rainbow cup coin discovered at the site, dating to the 3rd century BC, marks the last documented use of this location for cultural purposes.
