Friedensengel, Peace monument in Mannheim, Germany
The Friedensengel rises from a base with an open hall adorned with columns and features caryatids displaying portraits of generals and rulers.
The Peace Angel monument was commissioned by the city council in 1891 and constructed between 1896 and 1899 under architect Jacob Möhl's direction.
The monument includes mosaics within its hall depicting representations of peace, war, victory, and culture, reflecting German social values of the 1890s.
The monument stands in an accessible area of Mannheim, with multiple public transportation options available for visitors throughout the day.
The central column reaches 25 meters in height and supports a 6-meter statue of an angel inspired by the Nike of Paionios.
