St Theobald's Church, Collegiate church in Thann, France.

St Theobald's Church is a Gothic place of worship in Thann featuring a 76-meter tower and ornate entrance portals carved with countless figures and scenes. Inside, ribbed vaults and pointed arches frame extensive stained glass windows filled with color and religious imagery from the 15th century.

Construction started in 1332 on the southern part of the building and the tower was completed around 1516 by the Basel craftsman Rémy Faesch. This lengthy building process shows how the church took shape over nearly two centuries through the work of many generations.

The church displays sculpted saints across its exterior walls, which served to teach religious stories to people who could not read. These carved figures made the faith tangible and visible for everyone who walked past the building.

The church sits on Place Joffre and welcomes visitors wanting to explore Gothic architecture and medieval religious art. It remains an active place of worship, so visitors should be respectful during services and follow basic dress codes.

The western entrance displays biblical stories carved in layered stone arches that resemble a sculptural storybook. The interior also houses Baroque paintings from the early 18th century, which contrast with the medieval stone architecture and medieval glass.
