Chapelle de l'Oratoire, Religious monument in central Nantes, France

The Chapelle de l'Oratoire stands near the Museum of Arts, featuring a two-level façade with Ionic and Corinthian pilasters and a granitic exterior staircase.

Built between 1651 and 1665 by architects Jacques Malherbe and Gilles Corbineau, the chapel served as a criminal court during the French Revolution.

The chapel functions as an extension of the Museum of Arts, hosting temporary exhibitions that connect historical architecture with contemporary artistic expressions.

The building opens its doors for public exhibitions and cultural events throughout the year, offering visitors direct access from Place de l'Oratoire.

During World War II damage to the cathedral, this deconsecrated chapel temporarily resumed religious services for weddings and baptisms until 1945.
