Musée de l'ardoise, Slate mining museum in Trélazé, France.

The museum presents extensive collections of mining tools, geological samples, and traditional equipment used in slate extraction and processing throughout centuries.

Established in 1984 by former slate workers with municipal support, the museum received the official designation 'musée de France' in February 2003.

The institution preserves the heritage of slate mining through demonstrations of traditional splitting techniques performed by skilled craftspeople in dedicated exhibition halls.

Located at 32 chemin de la Maraichère, the museum offers guided tours lasting two hours, with admission prices ranging from 4.80€ to 8€.

Three specialized exhibition halls opened in 2015 integrate modern educational approaches to communicate the 600-year history of slate mining in the region.
