Lapland

Lapland extends across 100,366 square kilometers of Arctic territory, characterized by dense forests, extensive fells, and numerous lakes between the borders of Sweden and Norway.

The region transformed into an administrative division in 2010, following its status as a province from 1938 to 2009 with Rovaniemi maintaining its role as capital.

The Sami Parliament in Inari represents Finland's indigenous people, who maintain their traditions of reindeer herding and handicrafts across the northern territories.

Visitors can reach Lapland through Rovaniemi Airport, which receives direct flights from Helsinki and several European cities throughout the year.

Between September and March, the northern lights illuminate the winter sky while summer brings the midnight sun phenomenon with 24 hours of daylight.
