Founded in 1922, Nave Sha'anan began as a rural settlement with single-story houses before transforming into an urban district during the 1960s.

The population includes a diverse mix of Orthodox residents, immigrants from former Soviet Union countries, and students from the nearby Technion university.

The Grand Canyon shopping center serves as the main commercial hub, while the Carmel Tunnels provide direct access to northeastern and southern Haifa.

With over 44,100 residents comprising 15% of Haifa's population, Nave Sha'anan represents the largest single neighborhood in Israel.
