Castle of Trezzo sull'Adda

The castle stands on a hill within a bend of the Adda River, featuring a 42-meter-high tower and thick defensive walls.

Bernabò Visconti, Lord of Milan, ordered the construction of this fortification between 1370 and 1377 upon earlier Celtic and Lombard settlements.

The castle represents the military architecture of Northern Italy, incorporating both stone and brick construction techniques within its pentagonal structure.

Visitors can climb the tower steps for views of the Adda Valley and explore the restored sections of the fortress through guided tours.

The castle included a fortified bridge with a 72-meter single arch span across the Adda River, which remained standing until its destruction in 1416.
