Rocche di Sant'Anna, Catholic church ruins on coastal hilltop in Sestri Levante, Italy

The stone remains of Rocche di Sant'Anna stand on a promontory facing the Ligurian Sea, with walls and arches exposed to maritime winds.

The church's first written mention dates to 1506, though its construction likely occurred in the second half of the 16th century with major renovations in the 1700s.

Local women from the Musso, Oxio, and Morinello families collected donations during masses to fund the construction of the chapel dedicated to Saint Anne.

Visitors reach the ruins by following a hiking trail that starts from Via Antica Romana in Sestri Levante, crossing the Valle del Fico region.

The structure fell into disuse in 1810 when Napoleon's coastal road opened, redirecting traffic away from the ancient pilgrim path.
