Kasuga, Metropolitan city in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan
Kasuga extends across 14 square kilometers of land near Fukuoka City, containing residential neighborhoods and commercial districts within its boundaries.
The settlement emerged from a Kasuga Shrine built during the Nara period by the Fujiwara clan and transformed into a city on April 1, 1972.
The area holds substantial archaeological importance as the center of the Yayoi period Nakoku, with preserved artifacts at Hihaizuka Kofun site.
The city maintains connection through multiple railway lines, including JR Kyushu Kagoshima Main Line and Nishitetsu Tenjin Omuta Line for regional transportation.
The Suguokamoto archaeological site contains materials from different historical periods, demonstrating continuous human presence in this location for centuries.
