Kurobe, Administrative city in Toyama Prefecture, Japan.
Kurobe stretches from Toyama Bay to the Northern Alps mountains, with the Kurobe River flowing through its 426 square kilometers territory.
The establishment of Ikuji and Mikkaichi towns in 1889 marked the beginning of modern administration, leading to their merger into Kurobe city in 1954.
The city maintains strong international connections through sister city relationships with Sneek in Netherlands, Macon-Bibb in USA, and Samcheok in Korea.
Nine elementary schools, four junior high schools, and one public high school operate within the city boundaries to serve its 41,564 residents.
Kurobe functions as the global headquarters of YKK, a major zipper manufacturing company, contributing to the international textile industry presence in Japan.
