Kan'onji

Kanonji stretches along the Seto Inland Sea with the Sanuki Mountains to the south, covering 117 square kilometers of diverse terrain at different elevations.

The area contains burial grounds from the Kofun period and received its first religious establishment in 703 with the construction of Kotohiki Hachiman shrine.

The Shikoku Pilgrimage route includes two temples within Kanonji: Jinne-in at number 68 and Kannon-ji at position 69 in the sequence.

Ten elementary schools, five middle schools, and two high schools serve the educational needs of 57,921 residents spread across 25,510 households.

Kotohiki Park features Zenigata Sunae, a sand drawing in the shape of a traditional Japanese coin measuring several hundred meters in diameter.
