Uda, Administrative city in northeastern Nara Prefecture, Japan.

Uda stretches across 247 square kilometers of land, combining flat terrain along rivers with dense forests and scattered mountain settlements.

The region appears in the Manyoshu texts from the Nara period and was governed from Uda Matsuyama Castle during the Sengoku and Edo periods.

The Manyo Park hosts a December gathering where residents observe the red morning sky, following the tradition of an ancient poem by Hitomaro Kakinomoto.

The city maintains six elementary schools, four junior high schools, and one public high school, serving approximately 27,000 residents across four distinct areas.

Local farmers produce Kudzu powder, a traditional Japanese starch extract, despite the limited agricultural land in the mountainous terrain.
