Heguri occupies 23.90 square kilometers of land in the Kansai region, with a population density of 790 persons per square kilometer.

The municipal structure of Heguri was established on April 1, 1889, and underwent administrative reorganization from Heguri district to Ikoma district in 1897.

The town emblem, adopted in 1970, displays a green symbol on white background representing the kanji character for Heguri through interconnected lines.

The Kintetsu Railway Ikoma Line connects the town through Heguri Station, which serves an average of 3,934 passengers daily according to 2005 data.

The Tomb of Prince Nagaya and Chōgosonshi-ji temple stand as historical structures within the municipal boundaries of this Nara Prefecture town.
