Kumakogen, Mountain town in Ehime Prefecture, Japan
Kumakōgen spreads across 583 square kilometers of forested valleys along the upper reaches of the Niyodo River in the Shikoku Mountains region.
The current administrative structure emerged in 2004 when Kuma merged with three neighboring villages: Mikawa, Omogo, and Yanadani to establish Kumakōgen.
The area maintains eight temples of the Shikoku Pilgrimage, including Iwaya-ji temple number 45, which attracts religious visitors throughout the year.
The town connects to surrounding municipalities through National Routes 33, 380, 440, and 494, with no passenger railway services available for transportation.
Local forestry produces high-quality Cryptomeria and hinoki cypress wood, while farmers cultivate vegetables in the highland conditions of the region.
