Shet District, Administrative district in Karaganda Region, Kazakhstan
Located in central Kazakhstan, Shet District spans across 65,694 square kilometers of land with geographical coordinates at 47.81 latitude and 73.21 longitude.
The district was formally established in 1928 as an administrative unit within the Karaganda Region, marking the beginning of organized local governance in the area.
The district capital Aqsu-Ayuly stands in the Sherubainura river valley, near Mount Ayuly, representing traditional Kazakh settlement patterns along water sources.
The district maintains its administrative functions through the village of Aqsu-Ayuly, situated 130 kilometers southeast of Karaganda along the Astana-Almaty highway.
The Koktenkol molybdenum deposit, discovered in 1956 at 80 kilometers southwest of Aqsu-Ayuly, represents a substantial mineral resource in the district.
