Construction of this religious monument started in 1343 under architect Heinrich Ungeradin and continued for 159 years until its completion in 1502.

The interior contains medieval artworks, including the Coronation of Mary Altar, numerous paintings, epitaphs, and stained glass windows depicting biblical narratives.

The basilica opens daily from 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM, offering regular Catholic masses and guided tours through its extensive Gothic architecture.

This religious structure holds the distinction of being the third largest brick church worldwide, accommodating up to 25,000 people within its walls.
