Walt Whitman Bridge, Suspension bridge between Philadelphia, United States and Gloucester City, New Jersey.

The Walt Whitman Bridge extends 3,651 meters across the Delaware River with a main span of 609 meters and reaches 45 meters in height.

The Delaware River Port Authority initiated construction in 1953 and completed this steel structure in 1957 to connect Pennsylvania with New Jersey.

The bridge received its name from the American poet Walt Whitman, who lived in Camden during his final years and wrote about the Delaware River.

The bridge carries seven lanes of Interstate 76 traffic and accepts electronic toll payments for vehicles traveling from New Jersey to Pennsylvania.

The structure contains enough steel cable to circle the Earth at the equator, with primary cables measuring 76 centimeters in diameter.
