Basilica of Our Lady of the Sea, Gothic basilica in La Ribera district, Barcelona, Spain

The basilica features three naves of equal height supported by tall columns placed 13 meters apart, creating an expansive interior space.

Between 1329 and 1383, port workers transported stones from Montjuic quarry on their backs to construct this Catalan Gothic church.

Santa Maria del Mar represents the golden age of medieval Barcelona, when merchants and craftsmen gathered in the prosperous La Ribera quarter.

The church offers guided tours in multiple languages, allowing visitors to explore the towers, terraces, crypts, and central nave.

The basilica maintains pure Catalan Gothic architecture throughout its structure, as its construction period of 55 years prevented style variations.
