Metro de Málaga, Light rail network in Málaga, Spain
The Málaga Metro system consists of two operational lines connecting the city center with northwestern and southwestern suburbs through 19 stations.
Construction of the metro system started in 2006 after years of planning, with the European Investment Bank providing 260 million euros for development.
The metro extension completed in 2023 enables direct access to theaters, museums, and central districts of Málaga for both residents and tourists.
Passengers can travel from 6:30 AM to 11:00 PM on weekdays using rechargeable cards or single tickets priced at 1.35 euros per journey.
The network employs CAF Urbos 3 vehicles with low-floor design, accommodating 56 seated passengers and operating both underground and at surface level.
