Castle of Barcience, Medieval fortress in Barcience, Spain.

The rectangular castle features two circular towers on its western corners and two square towers on its eastern corners, built with rubblework masonry.

The Silva family constructed this military stronghold in the 15th century, after receiving the property from the Order of Santiago through Alfonso Tenorio.

A large stone carving of a rampant lion decorates the eastern tower, representing the heraldic symbol of the House of Silva, Counts of Cifuentes.

The castle remains accessible through a dirt path past the Barcience cemetery, though its interior structure contains fallen elements and requires careful navigation.

The northeast tower contains a partially collapsed spiral staircase that formerly provided access to the upper levels of the fortification.
