Capitoline Venus, Sculpture in Rome
The Capitoline Venus is a type of statue representing Venus that was what the Romans imagined the Goddess of love to look like.
This well-preserved Roman rendition of Aphrodite is considered a 2nd-century reconstruction of the Greek Aphrodite of Knidos.
It’s one of the most famous and cherished examples of the Hellenistic art's aesthetic ideal.
The statue can be viewed at the Capitoline Museums in Rome.
Unlike many copies of the Aphrodite of Knidos, the modest goddess tries to hide herself using her right hand.
