The Sainte-Valérie abbey church stretches 87 meters in length with a 38-meter wide transept and features two prominent towers named Tour des Bourgeois and Tour du Chartrier.
The monastery was established in 857 by monks from Saint-Martial Abbey of Limoges to protect Saint Valérie's relics from Norman invasions.
The church houses a significant silver bust reliquary from the 14th century containing Saint Valérie's remains, decorated with royal French coats of arms.
The Treasury, located on the ground floor of the Chartrier Tower, contains notable religious artifacts including a reliquary arm of Saint Julian.
The church's five radiating chapels contain 13th-century woodwork and a 17th-century altar with twisted columns displaying polychrome wooden statues.
