The St. Catherine Church features two wooden naves that resemble upturned ship hulls, with a separate bell tower constructed entirely from oak timber.
Local shipwrights constructed the church in 1460 using naval building techniques after the previous stone structure was destroyed during the Hundred Years War.
The interior walls display maritime-themed paintings and wooden carvings of biblical figures that reflect the methods used in creating ship decorations.
The church opens daily from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with extended summer hours until 8:30 PM during July and August months.
The separate bell tower stands on the bell ringer's house and contains religious artifacts that form part of the Eugene Boudin Museum collection.
